(Revised) Captains, PASS, "Fun" Runs, Physicals, and Concussion Monitoring.

Captains

On Thursday, January 28, Seniors and Juniors interested in serving as team captains should convene in the Health Room at 3:30p.  (Seniors and Juniors not interested in captaining the squad are not required to attend.)  We will review captain duties and expectations for the coming season during a 30 - 45 minute session.  After that, those still interested should identify their desire to one of the Coaches.  In the following week, we will meet as a team, talk about the role of captains, meet those interested, and gather input from the team via ballot to aid the Coaches in selecting our 2010 team captains.

PASS and "Fun" Runs

PASS continues on Mondays and Fridays after school and "Fun" Runs continue on Wednesdays after school through commencement of practices on February 22.  (Fun Runs will be conducted as stair laps and jump ropes on days where the temperature is below freezing.)  If you aren't involved in a winter sport, these sessions are a great way to get in shape before adding the lacrosse.  We'll add some "sticks" as optional sessions starting in two weeks.

Physicals and Concussion Monitoring

As a reminder, Physicals are due to the Athletic Department by February 19th.  These are for athletes who did not participate in a Fall or Winter sport.  Forms are on this HCS AD web site.  IHSAA physicals can be completed for about $25 at the clinics located in Kroger stores.

Also, every athlete should make an appointment with Coach Andy Shaffer, the HCS trainer, to conduct a concussion monitoring baseline test.  These can be completed on most days after school.  They are required of all HCS athletes.  And, they are a great tool in monitoring the health of our athletes if a head injury were to occur.
