Hoffacker Training

FireUp!

Ha!, preparation for next season has begun.  As of the time this note is dictated, we have only 277 days and 8 hours until we line up in the tunnel to pray and commence our first formal practice of the 2011 Spring season.  (That is 6:59p on February 21, 2011.)

Several athletes (and some parents) have pinged the coaches to learn how they specifically should be preparing for the future.  This is great.  For those we haven't followed up with yet, we will in just the next couple days.

In the meantime, ...

A couple of weeks ago, in a BLOG post outlining in broad terms what to do in the off-season, we addressed the school sponsored relationship with Hoffacker Health and Fitness.  In short, their services are a way to prepare and give oneself a platform for health beyond sport.  For our athletes, it is a structured, measured, fitness and conditioning program.  Hoffacker takes the arrangement we had with PASS to a new level.  ... adding measured discipline, consideration for the individual athlete's current status and the Coach's desire for the athlete's development for their role in the sport.  Part of the school's arrangement includes programs for our athletes in the summer and off-season (e.g. in the Fall and Winter for lacrosse players).

Before the athlete participates in those programs, they have a 15 minute personal assessment to get a baseline of where they are and guide the trainers in customizing a routine for them.  Athletes who play other sports may already be signed up for these sessions as those sports have moved forward in quickly embracing the service.  Now that we have finished our season, we've had lots of interest shown and are ready to get going.

So, specifically, we've set up times for the Women's Lacrosse Team (including rising freshmen) to complete their assessments.  Those times are Monday, the 24th, same afternoon as our gathering, at 2:00p, 2:15p, 2:30p, and 2:45p.  They can complete six assessments at a time.  Arrive 15 minutes before your time slot to turn in the two forms attached to this email and be fitted with a heart rate monitor.
